Elizabethton  1aa   16-13      3/8

  Many unknowns surround the 2010 edition of the Elizabethton Cyclone baseball team. Six starters and ten varsity players overall return from last year, but a host of young talent and newcomers look to fight for play-ing time. Seniors Jake Davis, Zach Boles, Taylor Lanthorn, and sophomore McKinley Berry should prove to be a good four man rotation and several other arms should pro-vide quality relief. Pitching depth should keep Elizabethton in every game this year, hopefully the offense can provide the run support. The top three hitters from a year ago return to the top of the lineup in Jake Davis (.552), Knox Eryasa (.438), and Zach Boles (.402). Last years squad swiped 112 bases and this years team will be looking to do more of the same. Preseason experience should help to determine the catching and corner outfield positions, as well as a solid DH and a couple of utility players.  Starting position players will be pushed all season long by a deep bench that swing the bats pretty well. Overall, the season looks promising. How far Elizabethton goes will be determined by the quality of preparation and focus this year's squad puts into each and every practice. According to Coach Nix, "The game of baseball can leave you on top of the mountain one day and bury you under it the next. If we can maintain focus and increase mental discipline as the year progresses, we may see some pretty good results."

Greeneville   2aa    18-10      3/8

The Greene Devils lost 12 seniors to graduation last year. Therefore a lot of shoes need to be filled.  The devils will look for KIP GROOMS( an honorable mention all conference selection last year and the only senior on the team) to lead the team this year. Greeneville will look for Juniors BRYAN EVERHARDT, COLLIN KING, HAYDEN JOHNS-TON, JONATHON WOOLSEY, and TAYLOR BLAIR to step up and fill the role of a leader.  Sophomores GARRETT RAMBO, LUKE RAMBO, MATT SMITH, BRANDON METCALF, JOSEPH TILLERY,DEREK THORNTON, BRENNAN HOLLOWELL, DYLAN LOBRILLO, and JOHN-MICHAEL HARDIN will round out the team.  Pitching staff will be led by G RAMBO and EVERHARDT. GROOMS, THORNTON, L RAMBO, KING, EVERHARDT, G RAMBO will lead the off-ense.  JOHNSTON and METCALF will be behind the dish. "This team has one of the best work ethic that I have been fortunate to coach. With that said, we lost a lot of good ball players last year. But this team has potential to be just as good."
